FCSB Wants to bus our Kids to Lewis

Bussing students from the West Springfield Neighborhoods to Lewis HS would violate nearly every principle of FCSB's own policy, disrupting school programs, neighborhood groupings and school pyramids, while nearly doubling student commutes... but this influx of talent would fill classrooms, bolster test scores and possibly even save Lewis's State accreditation.

FCSB can now move Boundaries without Notice

On July 18, FCSB ignored overwhelming protests and completely revised Boundary Policy 8130, giving themselves unilateral authority to rezone 15% of a pyramid without notice, and removing grandfather protections to keep students at their current school. That’s right, FCSB can now expedite the annex of an entire elementary school to a new pyramid, force MS/HS students to switch schools before graduation, and in some cases, even split a family across different schools… all without public notice!

Our Protests were IGNORED!

- FCSB limited grandfather provisions that would have protected the families who already live in that boundary at the time of boundary change

- FCSB removed the provision that state that in any boundary change that the people in position have to consider the impact on children and families

- FCSB removed parent's rights to initiate redistricting and call for review.

- FCSB gave the last say on redistricting to the Superintendent

Sandy Anderson is Failing Us...

Sandy Anderson is Springfield’s own representative on the FCSB. She grew up here and we elected her to protect us! But not only has she failed to provide assurances that our West Springfield Pyramid and Community will remain whole, but she also actively voted against grandfather protections for our kids. Sandy Anderson needs to hear our voice!
